For the past 4 year or more I’ve been working part-time as an Information Broker. Well after much thought and discussion with my wife I’ve decided to turn this into a business. I’m not sure whether I’m going to launch this new business under my own name or create a company name yet. I’m hoping to have a business website up and running in the next month or so, but we will see. I’m also looking into which professional organizations best represent the needs of an information professional. As a member of IEEE, SPIE, and IACR I have come to learn the benefits that can come from being part of an organization that reflects my interests. Two organization have come up in my search that may fit my needs the American Society for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T) and The Association of Independent Information Professionals (AIIP).
